The same day Lewis Hamilton will lift the F1 World Championship hopefully. He went to the same <a href="http://www.johnhenrynewman.herts.sch.uk/">school</a> as me. I left in 1993 and he started in 1996 though. He was my cousin's class. A brand new build 2 bedroom flat. Top floor, so no noisy neighbours. Corner of the building, loads of windows. Enormous master bedroom and one normal sized. Absolutely brand new place, fully furnished with a fabulous view of <a href="http://www.sirjohnbarrowmonument.co.uk/index.htm">this monument</a>. It was a really good night, the fella leaving had a great time and we all got a bit boozed up. I got back to my house at half midnight to find a note from the guy who lives below me on the front door (I'm in an upper conversion, its a Scottish thing). Apparently something was leaking from my house into his. 'Oh holy fuckin shit fuck shit'; I said as I fumbled with the keys and made my way to the downstairs bathroom. Here I found a very wet carpet and a tiny drip from the the underside of the hot tap. Not a big deal for a few drips, but it had obviously been dripping since I turned the tap off at about 7.15 yesterday morning, 17 hours before. Again, fuck-shit-fuck. A mate from work was staying over (not the 'girl from work', she's still in england, Plymouth actually) as he lives in Glasgow and we set about affecting emergency plumbing whilst pissed. Not a good idea. We managed to tighten up on the tap to stop the drip but in the process instead of neatly removing the wood panel it was behind, I tore it out and broke the wood. Bugger. Replaceable though, nevermind. We then pulled the carpet up to allow it to dry. When I woke up this morning it all seemed like a bad dream, unfortunately went I went downstairs, it was quite real still. </p> <p>SSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTT</p> <p>I've spent the day suffering for my art. (the art of boozing) and the bathroom floor is almost dry. The carpet isn't yet though. That may take a few days. I've not plucked up the courage to go and speak to my neighbour yet. Its not that I have any objection to them, its just that I've never been interested in watching them. Tonight my mum and I went to see Pride & Prejudice (she's a massive fan) and I'm a bit of a convert. I haven't read the book or seen any of the dramatisations before, so I had no benchmark. I really enjoyed it. Even though its got Keira Knightly and Rosamund Pike, it was thoroughly entertaining and really well shot. My mum tells me that massive chunks of the book have been sliced out but that didn't spoil it for her. Given that the 'Colin Firth' version is 6 hours long and this one only 2 and a bit, it needed cropping. Apparently the 2 youngest daughters are less like simpering idiots in that version and from a women's point of view Matthew McFayden is no Colin Firth. That aside it was really good.</p> <p>I'm having another weekend at mum's. 'She' is still away yachting and doesn't come back until next saturday so I'm 'keeping current' with the family (I'm making it sound like a chore, it really isn't). My brother is coming round for Sunday lunch tomorrow so its a whole family evolution.
